Just a Job to Do
"Just a Job to Do" is a song by Genesis. It was released on their 1983 self-titled album ''Genesis''. The lyrics, written by guitarist–bassist Mike Rutherford, tell the story of a hit man pursuing his victim.〔(Allmusic.com )〕
The song's working title during recording sessions was "M J".〔"The Making of the Genesis Album" from ''Genesis Live - The Mama Tour'' home video〕
On some early pressings of the ''Genesis'' album, this song was illustrated by a somewhat generic cartoon drawing of a detective. Other editions show the Dick Tracy character instead.
